Blue Blocks
Museum of Life + Science
2024
During my time at The Museum of Life + Science, I was able to participate as one of the lead designers in a multi-phase reconstruction project. Once construction began, temporary exhibitions were needed in order to fill the unique spaces created between construction walls. Blue Blocks was the first temporary exhibit I designed as the lead designer.
The main concept for this space was to prompt our target audience, parents with young children, to think about what they would build if the museum construction were up to them. Because the museum’s construction was going to be part of our visitor’s lives for the next few years, I used iconography that would introduce them to the equipment they would be seeing on a daily basis; ladders, scaffolding, cranes, etc. My target for this space was to feel like a workshop or studio where kids could dream up additions for the museum using the building blocks.
