In The Works
Museum of Life + Science
2023
During my time at The Museum of Life + Science, I was able to participate as one of the lead designers in a multi-phase reconstruction project. One of the first phases was to design a room to test out ideas. In time, In The Works was born as an ever-changing studio room for our developers to survey guest interacting with their climate-focused activities.
Climate change is something people tend to avoid discussing, so I knew I had to make this room feel inviting, while staying true to the theme. I wanted to replicate the feeling of data overload with the collaged wallpaper, while also giving viewers “oases” with the teal spotlights. The wallpaper was designed with climate-focused news articles along with pull quotes from a museum survey filled out by our own members. Among the “noise” created, the spotlit areas focused the viewer to try a new activity or give us their own feedback on climate change.
